Bodies of 2 students found floating on water after heavy downpour in Lagos

– Heavy rain downpour in Lagos on Thursday led to the death of two school boys in Alagbado

– Their bodies were found floating on the water and both boys were confirmed dead at the hospital

– Eywitnesses lamented over the sad incident and relatives of the boys were seen wailing at the hospital


Two male students of a private secondary school were picked up dead in the flood after a heavy rain in Alagbado area of Lagos on Thursday, March 29, witnesses confirmed.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the witnesses said the boys were found floating on water at Casso Bus Stop on Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway by shop owners and people waiting to board vehicles to their destinations. gathers that some commercial motorcycle riders carried them to a private hospital which confirmed them dead.

A witness said she and others were taking shelter from the rain in a nearby shop when they noticed the floating bodies on the water.

“That was how we discovered the boys and quickly the okada (motorcycle riders) people rushed and lifted them on their shoulders but they were lifeless because their legs and hands were just dangling,”the witness said.

One of the riders said the boys were students because they were in their school uniforms. “I wonder why they should go to school today which was declared work free and see how they have ended their lives just like that; it’s painful,’’ the rider said.

A sympathiser who gave his name as Gbolahan said the deceased could have been friends, “They must be friends and attend the same school.

I am sad and cannot talk now because they are dead and nothing can bring them back to life,” he expressed. A worker in the hospital who did not want her name mentioned, described the situation as painful. She said the boys were brought in dead.

Some persons, suspected to be the relatives of the boys, were seen wailing and rolling on the floor of the hospital. previously reported that on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, Nigerians woke up to a flooded Lagos, due to the heavy downpour that occurred in the early hours of the morning.

A lot of Nigerians in Lagos found it difficult to get to their place of work as the rain was too heavy for people to walk under. Also major roads were flooded as private and commercial vehicles managed to make their way in the flood.

A young lady who spoke anonymously disclosed that the flood almost swept her away.
