The second stage of the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 is set to begin today.
Without an iota of doubt, the first round was very excited, good to watch having so much dramas, and highly competitive that every team had at least a goal.
Also records were broken and another created in the group stage of this prestigious global competition. Some history repeat themselves while others did not.
Here is a comprehensive fixture, analysis and prediction of round of 16.
France VS Argentina
This is going to be a tough encounter. Argentina may bounce back from their poor form and become unstoppable.
However, Les Blue has the quality to win this game looking back at their group stage performance.
Uruguay VS Portugal 7pm
Hmm, this is El-Classico in Russia between Suarez and Ronaldo, we hope to see the rivalry continue between them on the pitch.
Portugal with Ronaldo may be in the quarter finals.
Spain VS Russia
It is obvious that the Spanish team’s performance is not convincing enough but they still deserve all the respect having the likes of Iniesta who can turn the game around. Russia on the other hand is a hurdle to climb because as the host they have everything working for them in terms of support and they have been playing relatively well.
Spain may crawl through.
Croatia VS Denmark 7pm
This game could spark a plug. It is between two European nations that play with so much caution in the group stage. Croatia’s group stage performance has recently earn them a favourite status, so they may qualify ahead of the Danish team.
Croatia all the way.
Monday 2/7 3pm
Brazil VS Mexico
This is going to be one of the most difficult encounter. Often time Mexico benefit more from this South America rivalry, yet Brazil could not be written off particularly at the world level.
It may go either way.
Belgium VS Japan 7pm
The star-studded Belgian team is the favorite to win this duel having won all 9points at stake in their first 3games. Japan has so much to prove, they have 100% World Cup finals qualification record from Asia. They play a very tactical football.
Belgium may win via penalty kick.
Tuesday 3/7 3pm
Sweden VS Switzerland
Another European battle. Swedish team without Ibrahimovic has done very well in this competition surviving from a group where the defending champion, Germany couldn’t. Shaqiri and others proved to the world that the Switz is equally a threat in Russia.
Switzerland may seal a place in the quarter finals.
Colombia VS England 7pm
Russia has been so interesting, this game will be a good addition. The English Premiership stars performance has not been disappointing. They have been taking every chance that surfaced. Colombia is however a tough nut to crack because they have a team that can go all the way.
England may steal the show.
So from NDT, we advise that you put your money where your mouth is.
