Brazil Loss to Belgium in Courtois Best Game of the World Cup
It is now an all European affairs after Brazil loss to Belgium in Kazan.
This is one of the most anticipated game in the quarter final. The two teams have the quality to progress to the next round.
Brazil is five time champion of the FIFA World Cup and Belgium has the highest number of goal scored in Russia. Both teams are favourite to win the World Cup.
The game lived up to expectations. Brazil controlled the game and have more of the ball in both halves. They have lost 5 times in the quarter final against European opposition.
In the 13th minute of the game, Belgium was gifted a goal by Fernandinho off an aerial ball. Some minutes later on the 31st, De Bruyne rattled a good shot into the Brazilians to make it 2-0 in the first half.
The half ended in favour of the European. In the second half, Brazil injected his team with fresh legs like Douglas Costa who made a huge impact.
From the beginning of second half, Brazil was doing all they could to get back into the game with Marcelo, Neymar, Coutinho and Costa working assiduously to change the unacceptable score line.
On the hour mark, their determination pays up through a substitute. Coutinho tip a good ball inside the box, Augusto freed himself from Kompany to nod home. Game on 2-1
The South American, struggled to further break their opponent’s defence to get the equaliser, all to no avail. No thanks to Belgium’s goalkeeper, Courtois who denied all shots thrown at him to ensure the scoreline remain in their favour.
Belgium will face France in the semi final on Tuesday.
