England Survives Colombia Threat to Face Sweden in Quarter Final
It is another wonderful day in Russia in the FIFA World Cup round of 16.
Although, many chances were not created in the game but it was another great night of football between Colombia and England.
In the history of the competition, the South Americans has never got a win against England and history repeat itself again.
The game was an open one where any of the teams could have won. Luckily for the Three Lions, Harry Kane was fouled in the box which he calmly slotted in to give his side the lead early in the second half of the game in the 57th minute.
England consolidated on the lead not until a certain Yeri Mina goal in the 93rd minute. The goal came when it was mostly needed to gift Colombia a deserved equaliser.
The game was therefore stretched into extra time. Both sides could not score in the extra 30 minutes which then necessitated penalty shootout.
Both goalkeepers did very well by stopping a shot each. A Colombian hit his short on the cross bar and that made all the difference.
It ended Colombia 3 England 4.
England will face Sweden in the quarter final. This game is the last in this stage that is full of drama. What a World Cup!
