Again Buhari’s Minister is accused of Omitting NYSC

The Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, failed to participate in the obligatory National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC), despite graduating from the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) at age 25, Premium Times file.

The revelation about Shittu, who is presently inside the race to emerge as Oyo State governor, comes a week after Kemi Adeosun became compelled to step down from her post as Finance Minister, after allegations that she skipped the compulsory national service and then procured a fake exemption certificates.

Months of discreet checks at the NYSC headquarters showed that Shittu did no longer gift himself for service after commencement and is yet to accomplish that until date.

When contacted on Tuesday, Shittu admitted that he did no longer serve, however claimed he thought his first political publish after commencement could suffice as countrywide carrier, a claim legal professionals and NYSC insiders don’t forget as ludicrous and untenable.

“The constitution needed for the qualification wished for national assembly members, NYSC is not there.

“I didn’t need it to become to be a member of the state meeting, and that is already a service,” he said.

Skipping the obligatory countrywide carrier is an offence underneath the NYSC law, punishable with up to one year imprisonment.
