Governors chose on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has guaranteed that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was working for the ruling party All Progressives Congress, APC.
This was contained in a report issued toward the finish of its crisis meeting in Abuja, yesterday.
The Governors said the INEC was behaving as a device of the APC-drove Federal Government and, hence, passed a vote of no confidence on the election umpires.
The report was marked by the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, who is likewise the administrator of the Forum.
The Governors called attention to that there was requirement for INEC to reexamine itself and turn into a really autonomous appointive umpire.
“For now, we have no confidence in INEC.
“The commission has conducted itself as a tool of the APC-led Federal Government, especially with the roles of the Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, and a National Commissioner, Mrs. Amina Zakari,” they said.
They further condemned the failure of President Muhammadu Buhari to sign the Electoral Act amendment bill passed recently by the National Assembly.
According to them, “the decision of President Buhari to withhold assent to the new electoral law is an indication that he and the ruling APC were afraid of the introduction of technology into the electoral system.”
