Aisha Al-Hassan, Minister of Women Affairs has resigned the All Progressives Congress.
She made her decision recognized via a letter addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday.
She additionally resigned her role as minister.
The letter read: “I write with plenty of admire to inform Mr. President of my choice to resign my appointment as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
She highlighted information of her decision while on the APC over the past years, noting that her selection became based on her disqualification from contesting for Taraba State governorship seat at the party’s platform, without a purpose given for her disqualification.
She wrote: “Sir, I purchased the APC nomination paperwork and went for the party screening on Thursday, the 20 th of September, 2019 along with 10 different contestants for the governorship of my state, Taraba. I, together with your permission proceeded to Taraba State at the twenty third of September, 2018 to prepare for the presidential and governorship primaries then scheduled for the twenty fifth and twenty ninth of September, 2018, respectively.
“While making ready for the primaries in Jalingo, I obtained with shock and dismay that I am disqualified and not cleared to contest for the 2019 governorship election with the aid of the National Working Committee of the party ((APC). No motive was given for my disqualification, Sir.
“Mr. President may wish to also be knowledgeable that I had always been a totally devoted and loyal party member and turned into at no time queried or admonished for any incorrect doing or unconstitutional behaviour.
