  1. Representatives of the Association of Cattle Sellers, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, and Sheikh Gumi Market Association have purchased the expression of interest and nomination forms for the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

The groups said they decided to come together to buy the nomination form for Governor Nasir El Rufai in support of his giant unprecedented developmental strides in the state.

  1. Former Inspector General of Police, IGP, Suleiman Abba, has joined the race for Jigawa Central senatorial district under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Abba, who picked his nomination form in Abuja on Monday, told newsmen that he was in the race to bring quality representation for his constituents and contribute meaningfully to national development.

  1. The All Progressives Congress, APC, has responded to the claim by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governors that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was working for the ruling party.

The APC dismissed the allegation, maintaining that the PDP lacked the credibility and rectitude to question the integrity of INEC.

  1. Many residents of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital suffered losses following a torrential rain fall that flooded no fewer than 30 houses and a Church in Ososami, Oke Ado, Liberty Road and Oke-Ayo areas on Sunday.

Report says many residents on Monday have started relocating from these areas where the water level is high.

  1. A renowned Kaduna based Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Abubajar Usman Baba-Tune is dead.

The cleric died Monday evening after he was admitted at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital Shika-Zaria two weeks ago.

  1. The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday, said it had set up a 12-member committee to discuss with the party’s 13 presidential aspirants, in order to pick one of them as consensus candidate.

The BoT chairman, Senator Walid Jibrin, said the committee would try to convince the aspirants about the dangers of having such a large number of aspirants in the race.

  1. Yobe State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, on Monday, signed into law life imprisonment and 25 years jail term for rape of minors and adults, respectively.

While signing the law in Damaturu, Gaidam said that government took a proactive action in view of the rampant increase of rape cases, kidnapping and unnatural offences being reported across the state and the country.

  1. Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media has accused enemies of his principal as being behind bribery allegation against the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr Abba Kyari.

He said some desperate politicians were hell bent on rubbishing the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

  1. The Police Command in Imo State has vowed to arrest anybody breaking the law in compliance with the sit-at-home ordered by the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra on Friday.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Dasuki Galadanchi, urged the residents to disregard the order, adding that the police would not allow such order to stand in the state.
