Atiku to Labour: There Will be Stew Everywhere if you Vote me as President
The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar promises Organised Labour and Nigeria workers in general that he will grant a sumptuous wage if voted as president of Nigeria in 2019.
It is no news that the Organised Labour is currently engaging the government in a face off, asking for an increase of the current 18,000 naira minimum wage to at least 30, 000 naira.
However, the organised labour union is ready to embark on an indefinite strike if all parties involved including private sector, continue to disagree.
The former Vice President taps into this to reach out to the people to vote for him as the next President of Nigeria. He says
“I want the Nigerian Labour Congress, the Trade Union Congress and the generality of Nigeria’s workers to be assured of my commitment to the principle of a living wage for Nigeria’s workers. In my private enterprises, I have shown commitment to the goose that lays the golden egg, and if given the opportunity, I shall extend that commitment to the public sector.”
In his words, he is proving to the Labour unions how committed he is to workers salary in his private companies, a feat he looks forward to replicate in the public space.
