IGP Summons Saraki, Melaye, Murray-Bruce for Public Disturbance and Violence
The Inspector General of Police has summon the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Sen. Dino Melaye and Sen. Ben Murray-Bruce all of PDP following the party’s protest to the Police headquarters in Abuja yesterday.
The senators were reported to have had a physical battle with policemen as they tried to force their way into the Police office. The brawl was said to degenerate to violence that prompt the Police to release teargas on the protesters.
Below is the statement accredited to the Police handpicking the senators for investigation among others because they were said to appearred on camera.
“Consequently, Senator Bukola Saraki, Senator Dino Melaye and Senator Ben Bruce who were captured on camera to have been involved in the disturbance of public peace and public safety… and violent attack on policemen posted to ensure security of the force headquarters, pushing and hitting the policemen to forcefully enter the force headquarters to cause damage to police equipment… are hereby invited to report themselves to the IGP Monitoring Unit at the force headquarters on Monday, 8th October, 2018 for investigation.”
