BUHARI: There Will be no Money from the Treasury for use in the 2019 Campaign
President Muhammadu Buhari has warned government officials particularly the ministers that he will not condone spending from the government treasury to fund 2019 election as it used to be.
He made this declaration at the FEC meeting on Wednesday. He said
I have made it clear to Government officials that there will be no money from the treasury for use in the 2019 campaign. I will not authorize that. One of the legacies I would like to leave behind is the clean-up of campaign financing in Nigeria.
Buhari said APC is a change agent that is determined to leave a good legacy in our electoral processes. He said his party will not share money to buy votes. He further said that
We cannot and will not share money from the treasury to prospective voters. Nigerians have long sought for change and only the All Progressives Congress (APC) can deliver — and is delivering — that change. Our people can no longer be swayed by money politics.
